One of the absolute joys of the ketosis diet for me, is the fact that I can eat steak. I absolutely love a good steak! As such, steak houses are usually on my agenda from time to time.
LongHorn Steakhouse is a chain that I will occasionally visit. This past weekend, I took my mother out for a late lunch.
The meal began with the salad, that you see below. I love the full-fat version of ranch dressing, and that is my default selection. I always ask the server to hold the croutons. Onions are acceptable, and I actually like them, but not so much on my salad. Tomatoes are acceptable in small quantities, so I will usually allow this. Finally, I love shredded cheese, as long as it is not low fat or fat free.
Naturally, the steak is what I most enjoy, and Longhorn did not disappoint!
This time, I ordered the 6 ounce Flo’s Filet. The menu description calls it, “Our most tender center cut of beef; lean yet succulent, mouth-watering buttery texture, and subtle flavor. Hand-seasoned and cooked to perfection.” I wholeheartedly concur with that description!
The entrees come with two sides. I chose the asparagus, which is considered an upgrade item. Naturally, the carbohydrates like baked potatoes or fries are the usual options.
One thing that I like to do when I order steak is to add a small cup of drawn butter. I use it to drizzle on my steak. Not only is it perfectly acceptable on the keto diet, but it adds flavor and juiciness to the steak.
There is the option of bread with the meal. This is a fairly common option in most restaurants. To avoid any temptation, I always ask them not to bring it to the table.
So, there you have it! The perfect keto meal at a chain restaurant. You should never feel like your diet restricts you when you go out to dinner.
